Sergeant Major Speaks Out On Women In Combat

OFF THE WIRE
Sergeant Major Lehew, a 27 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, speaks the honest truth that no one wants to hear about women in combat.
Sergeant Major Justin Lehew is a beast among men. At a time where the entire military is absolutely terrified of speaking their minds, he personified moral courage. This man is a leader of Marines, and when it comes to protecting the combat effectiveness of the United States Marine Corps, he let his words speak without the fear of repercussion.
Men vs Women

After spearheading the Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force, a unit specifically designed to test the mettle of women in ground combat-arms roles, he said this.
Ok, been silent long enough on this. I have been a part of this process from the beginning and I am just going to put it out there. The Secretary of the Navy is way off base on this and to say the things he is saying is flat out counter to the interests of national security and is unfair to the women who participated in this study.
We selected our best women for this test unit, selected our most mature female leaders as well. The men (me included) were the most progressive and open minded that you could get. The commander of this unit was a seasoned and successful infantryman. The XO of this unit was as good as they get, so good the USMC made her the CO of the Officer Candidate School. I just selected the SgtMaj of the unit to head up our senior enlisted academy at Camp Lejeune, NC. No one went in to this with the mentality that we did not want this to succeed. No Marine, regardless of gender would do that.
With our limited manpower we cannot afford to not train everyone to the best of their abilities. This was as stacked as a unit could get with the best Marines to give it a 100 percent success rate as we possibly could. End result? The best women in The GCEITF as a group in regard to infantry operations were equal or below in most all cases to the lowest 5 percent of men as a group in this test study. They are slower on all accounts in almost every technical and tactical aspect and physically weaker in every aspect across the range of military operations.
SECNAV has stated that he has made his mind up even before the release of these results and that the USMC test unit will not change his mind on anything. Listen up folks. Your senior leadership of this country does not want to see America overwhelmingly succeed on the battlefield, it wants to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to pursue whatever they want regardless of the outcome on national security.
The infantry is not Ranger School. That is just a school like any other school and is not a feeder specifically to the infantry. Anyone can go to that school that meets the prereqs, just like airborne school. Kudos to the two women who graduated. They are bad-asses in their own right. In regards to the infantry….there is no trophy for second place. You perform or die. Make no mistake. In this realm, you want your fastest, most fit, most physical and most lethal person you can possibly put on the battlefield to overwhelm the enemy’s ability to counter what you are throwing at them and in every test case, that person has turned out to be a man.
There is nothing gender biased about this, it is what it is. You will never see a female Quarterback in the NFL, there will never be a female center on any NHL team and you will never see a female batting in the number 4 spot for the New York Yankees. It is what it is.
As a country we preach equality. But to place these mandates on the military before this country has even considered making females register, just like males, for the selective service is in all aspects out of touch with reality. Equality and equal opportunity start before you raise your right hand and swear an oath to this country. Yes, we are an all-volunteer force at the moment. Should this country however need to mobilize rapidly again to face the threats of the world like our grandfathers did, it will once again look to the military age males of this country to fill the ranks because last I checked, we did not require women to register for the selective service.
Until that happens, we should not even be wasting our time even thinking about opening up the infantry to women. To my female Marine friends out there, I love you to death, you are the best of the best and you have my continued admiration for what you do and to the Marines of the GCEITF….you are tops in my book for taking up the challenge…regardless what the SECNAV says about you not being the best that we could have put in that unit because you were….on all accounts.
Women Carrying
After posting this message to his Facebook page, Sergeant Major Lehew was not afraid of consequences, but he was expecting them. He knew from the moment he hit send on that message, that his career would be in jeopardy. After speaking to him however, I learned that he faced no punishment whatsoever from his actions. “Repercussions – none, not even a stern talk. Likely due to the fact that I said what most all feel or believe but the difference is…I actually said it…” It’s probably hard to punish someone for their actions, when you internally agree with them.
I personally am inclined to agree with this man’s statements. There is a lot of debate currently going on about the recent decision to open all combat roles in the military to women. On one side, we have the feminists screaming for equality (yet I don’t see a massive line at the career planner for MOS changes.) On the other side, we have the men with experience, speaking from a realistic point of view.
It’s not bias, it’s science.

The Feds are on Facebook. And MySpace, LinkedIn and Twitter, too.
U.S. law enforcement agents are following the rest of the Internet world into popular social-networking services, going undercover with false online profiles to communicate with suspects and gather private information, according to an internal Justice Department document that offers a tantalizing glimpse of issues related to privacy and crime-fighting.
Think you know who's behind that "friend" request? Think again. Your new "friend" just might be the FBI.
The document, obtained in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, makes clear that U.S. agents are already logging on surreptitiously to exchange messages with suspects, identify a target's friends or relatives and browse private information such as postings, personal photographs and video clips.
Among other purposes: Investigators can check suspects' alibis by comparing stories told to police with tweets sent at the same time about their whereabouts. Online photos from a suspicious spending spree — people posing with jewelry, guns or fancy cars — can link suspects or their friends to robberies or burglaries.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation, a San Francisco-based civil liberties group, obtained the Justice Department document when it sued the agency and five others in federal court. The 33-page document underscores the importance of social networking sites to U.S. authorities. The foundation said it would publish the document on its Web site on Tuesday.
With agents going undercover, state and local police coordinate their online activities with the Secret Service, FBI and other federal agencies in a strategy known as "deconfliction" to keep out of each other's way.
"You could really mess up someone's investigation because you're investigating the same person and maybe doing things that are counterproductive to what another agency is doing," said Detective Frank Dannahey of the Rocky Hill, Conn., Police Department, a veteran of dozens of undercover cases.
A decade ago, agents kept watch over AOL and MSN chat rooms to nab sexual predators. But those text-only chat services are old-school compared with today's social media, which contain mountains of personal data, photographs, videos and audio clips — a potential treasure trove of evidence for cases of violent crime, financial fraud and much more.
The Justice Department document, part of a presentation given in August by top cybercrime officials, describes the value of Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn and other services to government investigators. It does not describe in detail the boundaries for using them.
"It doesn't really discuss any mechanisms for accountability or ensuring that government agents use those tools responsibly," said Marcia Hoffman, a senior attorney with the civil liberties foundation.
The group sued in Washington to force the government to disclose its policies for using social networking sites in investigations, data collection and surveillance.
Covert investigations on social-networking services are legal and governed by internal rules, according to Justice Department officials. But they would not say what those rules are.
The Justice Department document raises a legal question about a social-media bullying case in which U.S. prosecutors charged a Missouri woman with computer fraud for creating a fake MySpace account — effectively the same activity that undercover agents are doing, although for different purposes.
The woman, Lori Drew, helped create an account for a fictitious teen boy on MySpace and sent flirtatious messages to a 13-year-old neighborhood girl in his name. The girl hanged herself in October 2006, in a St. Louis suburb, after she received a message saying the world would be better without her.
A jury in California, where MySpace has its servers, convicted Drew of three misdemeanor counts of accessing computers without authorization because she was accused of violating MySpace's rules against creating fake accounts. But last year a judge overturned the verdicts, citing the vagueness of the law.
"If agents violate terms of service, is that 'otherwise illegal activity'?" the document asks. It doesn't provide an answer.
Facebook's rules, for example, specify that users "will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission." Twitter's rules prohibit its users from sending deceptive or false information. MySpace requires that information for accounts be "truthful and accurate."
A former U.S. cybersecurity prosecutor, Marc Zwillinger, said investigators should be able to go undercover in the online world the same way they do in the real world, even if such conduct is barred by a company's rules. But there have to be limits, he said.n the face-t-face world, agents can't impersonate a suspect's spouse, child, parent or best friend. But online, behind the guise of a social-networking account, they can.
"This new situation presents a need for careful oversight so that law enforcement does not use social networking to intrude on some of our most personal relationships," said Zwillinger, whose firm does legal work for Yahoo and MySpace.
Undercover operations aren't necessary if the suspect is reckless. Federal authorities nabbed a man wanted on bank fraud charges after he started posting Facebook updates about the fun he was having in Mexico.
Maxi Sopo, a native of Cameroon living in the Seattle area, apparently slipped across the border into Mexico in a rented car last year after learning that federal agents were investigating the alleged scheme. The agents initially could find no trace of him on social media sites, and they were unable to pin down his exact location in Mexico. But they kept checking and eventually found Sopo on Facebook.
While Sopo's online profile was private, his list of friends was not. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Scoville began going through the list and was able to learn where Sopo was living. Mexican authorities arrested Sopo in September. He is awaiting extradition to the U.S.
The Justice document describes how Facebook, MySpace and Twitter have interacted with federal investigators: Facebook is "often cooperative with emergency requests," the government said. MySpace preserves information about its users indefinitely and even stores data from deleted accounts for one year. But Twitter's lawyers tell prosecutors they need a warrant or subpoena before the company turns over customer information, the document says.

Media Refusing to Cover Police & Witness Accounts of “3 White Male Shooters” in San Bernardino

OFF THE WIRE
As is the case with many horrific events in recent US history, the San Bernardino shooting leaves many Americans with more questions than answers…
san-bernardino-shooting
San Bernardino, CA — On the night of December 2, after the tragic shootings at the Inland Regional Medical Center, CBS Evening News interviewed a witness to the shooting.
The interview, which took place live and over the phone, has not been covered by any other mainstream outlet despite the vastly different details provided which completely contradict the subsequent ‘official’ narrative, while backing up several other eyewitness accounts.
Witness Sally Abdelmageed, who works at the Inland Regional Center, and witnessed the shooting, spoke to CBS correspondent Scott Pelley.
During this interview, Pelley would ask Abdelmageed to describe the shooters in detail. Abdelmageed replied that the shooters were three tall athletic white men.
Below is the transcribed conversation from last week’s interview.

Scott Pelley: One of the witnesses today is Sally Abdelmageed, who works at the Inland Regional Center, the building where the attack took place. She saw the attackers enter the building and we spoke to her by phone.
Sally Abdelmageed: I heard umm shots fired and it was you know from an automatic weapon so you know it was very unusual… why, you know why would we hear shots? As we look out the window a second set of shots goes off, and its just pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-pop and we saw a man fall to the floor.
Then we just looked and we saw three men dressed in all black military attire with vests on they were holding assault rifles and they (breathes) as soon as they opened the door to building three and one of them opened up the door to building three, he started to spray shoot, you know shoot all over into the room, that’s the room that we typically have conferences in, and we just heard more gunshots go off. I got my phone. I reached for my phone. I called 9-1-1 and I just hid under my desk. I didn’t see anymore, I just heard more gunshots go off as I was talking to the dispatch. We went into my manager’s office, locked the door, barricaded it. We heard running and things happening upstairs. About 30 minutes later someone came to the door, knocked on the door. But we didn’t obviously answer. Then another 60 minutes later someone came and took us into a secure room.

Scott Pelley: Ms. Abdelmageed, can you describe to me in as much detail as you can, what did the gunmen look like?
Sally Abdelmageed: I couldn’t see his face, he had a black hat on and from my view all I could see was a black hat and black long sleeve shirt, possibly gloves on. Ummm… he had black cargo pants on the kind with the zippers on the side and the big puffy pockets. He had a huge assault rifle and he had extra ammo. He was coming ready for, he was coming ready for something. To reload I don’t know. He had [inaudible] magazines. Umm… I couldn’t see what else, I just saw three dressed exactly the same.
Scott Pelley:You’re certain that you saw three men?
Sally Abdelmageed: Yes, it looked like their skin color was yeah, was white. They looked like they were athletic build and umm… they appeared to be tall.
When the call is over, Pelley ends the segment by saying, “and of course we’ve just learned that one of the suspects was actually a woman.”

What makes Abdelmageed’s recount of the shooting so compelling is that she is corroborating the initial reports coming from unknown witnesses and police accounts on the ground during the shooting.
As the Free Thought Project was reporting on the events as they unfolded, we managed to capture the links to police reports describing three shooters, who were “white males.”
Fox Los Angeles reported that the suspects are “white males” in “military gear” and armed with “rifles.”

Mark Stutte, who works in information technology for the county’s public health department, said his daughter called him from the scene, at the Inland Regional Center and described the exact same thing.
“It was a like a Christmas party, an award party that we were having,” Stutte said.
“She went to the restroom and she called me. She was huddled up in the restroom, and three gunman came in and they started shooting people — colleagues that I work with,” Stutte said.
As the press descended upon the scene, police began to insert themselves between witnesses and reporters. Not only did they threaten witnesses by telling them not to talk to the press, but they were seen on LIVE TV physically pushing witnesses and press away from each other.
Another strange facet to this already shady story was the fact that a SWAT team was holding an active shooter drill right next to where the shootings began.
San Bernardino Police Department Lt. Richard Lawhead confirmed that their SWAT team happened to be conducting training nearby. The team was suited, “ready to roll” and responded rapidly according to Lawhead.

What makes this drill noteworthy is that this is not the first time that emergency drills for the exact scenario unfolding were taking place at virtually the same moment the actual terrorist attacks began.
Paris-area emergency personnel and ambulance crews were taking part in a simulated emergency exercise on the very same day the Paris terrorist attacks took place.
Consequently, witnesses to the Paris attacks also said that the attackers were “white men, clean shaven, and dressed in black.”
During the 9/11 attacks on the U.S., North American Aerospace Defense Command’s (NORAD) was in the midst of a training exercise as well. It was called Vigilant Guardian, which “coincidentally” simulated planes being hijacked by terrorists.
The London subway attacks on 7/7 also encompassed drills happening only days prior to that terrorist attack.
To add even more mystery to the shooting, an attorney for the family describes numerous ways that the official story of that horrible crime “doesn’t add up.”
“There’s a lot of disconnects, and there’s a lot of unknowns, and a lot of things that quite frankly don’t add up,” insisted attorney David S. Chelsey, who represents Farooq’s family.
As the Free Thought Project previously reported, witnesses and investigators have both described a terrorist onslaught carried out with military precision by suspects who were trained and capable. Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, didn’t appear to have the necessary background and skillset, according to Chelsey.
He expressed particular skepticism that Malik, who was nursing a newborn child, was suitable to carry out a depraved mission of that kind: “She was only about ninety pounds, so it’s unlikely she could even carry a weapon, or wear some type of a vest, or do any of this.”
The most provocative claim made by Chelsey dealt with the condition of the alleged terrorists when their bodies were found:

“Where the couple was found, from what I understand, is that they were handcuffed, lying face-down in this truck, shot up.”

By all accounts, Farook’s family is cooperating fully in the investigation.
“We sat with the FBI for three hours, and they tried to identify some characteristics or some affiliations that he might have had that have led him to act in this way, and they were totally stumped, totally frustrated,” Chelsey reports. “Everyone is clueless.”
The same day that the attorney for the family insisted that the ‘official story’ was full of holes, the FBI allowed dozens of reporters to trample and destroy the crime scene and made zero arrests.
As is the case with many horrific events in recent US history, the San Bernardino shooting leaves many Americans with more questions than answers. With a government so apt to deceive its citizens at the drop of a hat, who’s to know what really happened?
One thing, however, should remain certain, and it’s that we must always question everything. The second all Americans begin to accept the word of their leaders as the gospel truth is the second that liberty dies for good.
As Abraham Lincoln famously said on numerous occasions after most likely learning this through trial and error himself,
“You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

Los Angeles, CA — While the nation was consumed with news of the San Bernardino shooting last week, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office conveniently slipped out a report noting that Officer Daniel Andrew acted within the law when he savagely beat Marlene Pinnock on the side of a highway.
On July 1, 2014, on an on-ramp of the 10 Freeway, Marlene Pinnock was attacked and beaten nearly to death by officer Andrew. Blow after blow, the woman’s head was seen bouncing off the concrete in the horrific video captured by bystander David Diaz.
Weeks after the video went viral, the CHP kept the entire incident under wraps, refusing to release Andrew’s name and asserting that he was only trying to help the woman.
The video became iconic and quickly became a symbol that epitomized police brutality across the country. However, in a blow to justice, the abusive, woman-beating tyrant who was caught red handed brutalizing an innocent woman will face no consequences.
After the incident, even Andrew thought he was a goner, and he did what most cops do when they get caught committing a crime – resign to avoid punishment. It worked too, in spite of the CHP paying out a $1.5 million settlement to Pinnock.
“There is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the force he used was unreasonable or excessive,” claims the report.
District Attorney Jackie Lacey, who refused to prosecute this woman-beating cop, says the video did not show what led up to the struggle.
Lacey said in a statement“when looking at all of the evidence, and especially the medical reports and eyewitness accounts, it becomes exceedingly clear that the officer, who was alone and struggling with Ms. Pinnock precariously close to evening freeway traffic, acted within the law.”

“In our analysis, his use of force was legal and necessary to protect not only his own life but also that of Ms. Pinnock,” she added.
According to Lacey, police should be able to jump on top of anyone walking on the shoulder of a road and beat them half to death – because there is a chance they may walk into traffic.

“I think Jackie Lacey’s cowardice decision not to prosecute Daniel Andrew is disgusting, completely disgusting. And she needs to be investigated,” Pinnock’s attorney, Caree Harper, said.

“This is unbelievable.  No one who has seen the videotape needed a bias report to determine that the beating suffered by Ms. Pinnock was criminal, it was clearly a use of excessive force, it was damn near attempted murder.  I am appalled and disappointed in the decision made by DA Lacey,” Community Activist and Executive Publisher of the Los Angeles Sentinel Danny J. Bakewell, Sr. said.
Since the news broke last week, Community Leaders and members of the National Action Network’s Los Angeles Chapter are calling for L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey to step down.
Not only should Lacey step down, but, like Pinnock’s attorney stated, she should be investigated for letting Andrew walk.
In Police State America, ‘public service’ has taken the shape of a fist – smashing a helpless woman’s face.

MSNBC correspondent Jeremy Lancaster sat down with government official Darrin Cornia to discuss recent rumors that have been in circulation in regard to registered motorcycle owners being placed on a classified FBI gang list.

Darrin Cornia who currently holds a position within the National Security Branch of the government agreed to complete transparency prior to the interview with MSNBC’s Jeremy Lancaster and did remain direct and seemingly forthright throughout his conversation with Lancaster.

After a few moments of introduction, Lancaster bluntly asked the following question,” Mr. Cornia, if I were to make the statement, all registered motorcycle owners are currently showing on a classified FBI gang list, would the statement be true or false?

Cornia responded by saying, “That would be a true statement, the FBI has been collecting and compiling Department of Motor Vehicles and Drivers License Division records for the purpose of adding those that own motorcycles to a classified gang list since 1994.

Lancaster asked Cornia to explain the reasoning behind the list which seems inappropriately broad, to Cornia answered the question with the following statement, “It’s nothing more than collecting and utilizing data. We may not like to admit it, but the truth of the matter is that those that own and operate motorcycles are 67% more likely to be involved in illegal or criminal activity than those that do not own or operate a motorcycle.”

The National Security Official went on to explain, “It’s the same as firearms, if local P.D or Highway Patrol were to pull someone over that is a registered firearm owner, that officer has the right to know this information going into the interaction, the same could be said about a local P.D or Highway Patrol Officer that pulled over a registered motorcycle owner, the situations are honestly interchangeable in the eyes of National and Homeland Security.

MSNBC correspondent Jeremy Lancaster asked Cornia if placing citizens on a gang list just because they are registered motorcycle owners is considered as profiling, Cornia responded to the question by saying, “as a nation do we complain when we add someone that has a Crips or Bloods tattoo to a gang list even though the individual swears up and down that they don’t have gang affiliation? Again these are 2 situations that are interchangeable, we can’t pick and choose.”

Lancaster asked how individuals can find out if they are on this classified gang list to which Cornia responded, “Did you register a motorcycle or obtain a Class M license anytime between the year 1994 and 2015? If so, than you are on the list.”

The MSNBC correspondent concluded the interview by asking Cornia, “aside from potential profiling from law enforcement, are there potentially any additional consequences of being on this gang list?” Cornia responded by saying, “the purpose of the list is to collect and utilize data, not to create consequences. Aside from notifying law enforcement that you are a registered motorcycle owner or operator, it can show up to potential employers on select background checks.”

THANK YOU, CRYSTAL
Here's a reality check, and a lengthy one at that. As we all get ready to celebrate the Holidays and the up and coming new year, let's not forget that an enemy is lurking in the background waiting on Americans to be vulnerable. The problem with this situation is, we are at war with an unknown enemy. An enemy that is blending into society, who's kids are going to your kids school, an enemy that works right along side of some of us, an enemy that we call "neighbor". What's the worst part, an enemy that has zero value on lives, to include their own.
These aren't your typical rag head wearing, long bearded, robe attire terrorists anymore. They are now the doctors, gas station attendants, office workers, business owners, and your friendly pharmacists. America needs to wake up now, more so than ever before.
France was threatened in the past, those threats were recently followed through with. In that same video, Americans were threatened that a few months after the France attacks took place, we were next and that these terrorists will be well planted on American soil, surprise people, they are already here.
I am NOT saying Americans should live in fear, not one bit. I AM saying that Americans need to wake up and stop using the "Turn the other cheek" strategy, we will fail miserably if that thought process continues. You also have to remember the "lone wolves" involved. These are the idiots trying to make a name for themselves by walking into churches and schools and killing innocent people. That's what society has come to today.
Instead, ask yourself what these animals are doing daily in order to become stronger, in order to multiply, and in order to kill each and every American or innocent person. Are you bettering yourself for this daily threat? Do you go into places with a strategic plan of any kind if you do find yourself in this position? Planning, training and prevention is the mind set we should all work to adopt from here on out.
The reality of things and bottom line is this, our Nation is in trouble and we the people need to be ready and prepared for this unknown and battle that will emerge. "United we stand, divided we fall" remember that.
The world is only getting crazier by the minute and we seem to continue to only react to things after they have already happened and it's way too late. That's poor planning and prevention measures. Can we predict or prevent everything, no. Can we see what's coming from a mile away, absolutely.
We can't count on LE, Military, FBI, Secret Service, or any other agency to protect our Nation from everything. We are only groups of men and women with a million tasks at hands and issues that come up every second of the day. If you think that way you will fail yourself.
With that said, it's time to wake up and put the open arms and welcoming of all on the back burner, the ones we welcome in are the same ones that want us out. Get your permits, have a plan in place, report suspicious activity of all kinds. Don't do what the neighbors of the 2 terrorists in California did, they admitted after it was too late they failed to report anything due to them appearing to look racist. Yet these two terrorists are making bombs in their home to kill god knows how many. Use commonsense people, it's free

Yesterday, California’s Department of Motor Vehicles “released draft autonomous vehicle deployment regulations” for so called “autonomous” cars.  The DMV called the proposed rules “the next step toward allowing the public to operate self-driving cars on California roadways in the future.”
The proposed regulations begin by banning the sale and commercial use of driverless cars. Information giant Google, as well as auto companies Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Delphi Automotive, Tesla Motors, Bosch, Nissan, Cruise Automation, BMW, Honda, and Ford have been developing and testing autonomous cars. Google’s version is intended to work like a driverless taxi that picks up passengers and drops them off. Google’s cars do not feature driver controls like steering wheels, accelerators or brakes. They have on and off buttons. Traditional automakers have advertised their autonomous cars as vehicles that extend current autonomous vehicle features like self braking. Mercedes-Benz has suggested that you could drive it’s autonomous car to the airport and the car could then go park itself.
Three Google employees were injured in an accident while riding in one of the company’s driverless cars on a public road last July in Mountain View, California. Volkswagen was recently discovered to have installed “defeat device” software in 11 million of its cars in order to produce false results on government mandated emissions tests.

DMV Regulations

In a press release, California DMV Director Jean Shiomoto said “The primary focus of the deployment regulations is the safety of autonomous vehicles and the safety of the public who will share the road with these vehicles.”
California has proposed four rules for the coming development and deployment of autonomous cars on California’s roads.
1.    Manufacturers must allow third-party testing organizations to certify the robot cars’ “compliance with specific autonomous vehicle safety and performance requirements.”
2.    Driverless cars are banned. “A licensed operator will be required to be present inside the vehicle and be capable of taking control in the event of a technology failure or other emergency.” Operators would also be required to obtain an autonomous vehicle “operator certificate.”
3.    Autonomous cars will initially be allowed for only a three-year test period.
4.    The new cars can’t spy on their operators and must be reasonably hacker-proof. “Manufacturers must disclose to the operator if information is collected, other than the information needed to safely operate the vehicle. Manufacturers will be required to obtain approval to collect this additional information. Autonomous vehicles will be equipped with self-diagnostic capabilities that detect and respond to cyber-attacks or other unauthorized intrusions, alert the operator, and allow for an operator override.”

Google Gravely Disappointed

Google has not embraced the proposed regulations. Google spokesman Johnny Luu wrote, “In developing vehicles that can take anyone from A to B at the push of a button, we’re hoping to transform mobility for millions of people, whether by reducing the 94 percent of accidents caused by human error or bringing everyday destinations within reach of those who might otherwise be excluded by their inability to drive a car. Safety is our highest priority and primary motivator as we do this. We’re gravely disappointed that California is already writing a ceiling on the potential for fully self-driving cars to help all of us who live here.”
Meanwhile Austin, Texas where Google is also testing self-driving cars, is “thrilled” by the proposed California regulations according to a spokesman for Austin Mayor Steve Adler. Austin sees the regulations as an opportunity to steal more jobs from California.
Texas does not regulate autonomous vehicles. According to numerous news sources, Google has lobbied to keep it that way. Texas has actively solicited California companies to relocate because of Texas’ “friendlier and cheaper business environment.” During the last year, Toyota has been relocating it’s North American headquarters from Torrance, California, which is surrounded by the City of Los Angeles, to Plano, Texas which is about 20 miles north of Dallas.

"[When] local government refuses to pay for a prosecutor [DA], [cops] would be unable to actually take speeding tickets to trial if a defendant wanted to fight..."
By John Vibes
Calvert, Texas – Retired municipal court judge David Viscarde has recently come forward to expose the use of quotas on speeding tickets. In an exclusive interview this week, Viscarde told WFAA that the police department and the local courts were involved in a revenue collection scheme where officers had quotas for speeding tickets, and judges were pressured to rush the cases through the courts.
Viscarde was a volunteer municipal court judge for over 15 years.
When I first became a judge, we had one reserve officer. That’s all he did on Friday and Saturday every other weekend. He’d write 100 citations,” Viscarde said.
“Their municipal court is their cash cow,” he added.
Viscarde explained how the pressure put on judges in the area caused him and many others to quit.
The pressure to collect revenues in Calvert — and probably other small towns in Texas — is excessive. And what happens is, you got judges like me who say they’ve got better things to do with my time. ‘Thank you very much, and God bless you, I’ll move on,’” Viscarde said.

He also revealed that Police Departments from many small towns in the area of Texas funded their entire budgets with speeding tickets. According to Viscarde, some towns would not even be able to have a police force if it weren’t for the speeding tickets. In the town of Calvert, for example, the local government refuses to pay for a prosecutor, and would be unable to actually take speeding tickets to trial if a defendant wanted to fight back.

In some towns, there are more pending cases than there are people. In the town of Hearne, there are only 4,400 people, but 12,000 municipal court cases pending. In Calvert, there is an average of 5 pending cases for every person in the town.

“The mindset of most small towns — including Calvert, and I can only speak for Calvert — is, ‘After all, we’re only Calvert, who’s going to know?’ The problem is, I knew,” Viscarde said.
WFAA reported that none of the towns in question had ever been audited. Below is the interview with WFAA.
